Energy
Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) , Case study on policy reforms to promote renewable energy in Lebanon , 2018
The energy sector in Lebanon has been suffering since the beginning of the 1990s because of the lack of a clear policy setting goals for the development of the sector. No investments have been made in any power plants since the mid-1990s, leading to a decline in their generating capacities, and enlarging the deficit thereby with increasing demand.
The present case study aims to provide decision-makers, project developers and other actors involved in the renewable energy sector with an analysis of the renewable energy policies and regulatory frameworks that are applied in Lebanon to support the energy strategy, and deduce the lessons learned from that experience.
